Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Local Offer
School Inclusion Statement
At Spring Lane Primary School, we are committed to creating a school community where every pupil is valued, respected, and supported to thrive. We celebrate diversity, promote equity, and champion inclusion, ensuring that all pupils regardless of background, ability, or circumstance, have equal opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed.
Our school serves a community with significant SEND, English as an Additional Language (EAL), and socio-economic challenges. We recognise that some pupils may face additional barriers to learning and participation, and we are committed to removing these barriers through targeted support, differentiated teaching, and strong pastoral care. We actively foster a culture of belonging and respect, where differences are celebrated and every voice is heard. Inclusion is embedded across every aspect of school life, from curriculum design and classroom practice to extracurricular activities, leadership opportunities, and community engagement.
We work in partnership with families, carers, and the wider community to ensure that pupils receive consistent support at school and beyond. Our approach is guided by evidence, reflective practice, and ongoing evaluation to ensure that all pupils can achieve their potential academically, socially, and emotionally. At Spring Lane Primary School, inclusion is not an initiative it is our ethos. Every pupil is welcome, valued, and empowered to make a positive contribution to our school community.
Our Approach
We follow the principles of the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and the West Northamptonshire Council Local Offer, ensuring all children with SEND are identified early, supported effectively, and included fully in all aspects of school life.
Identification and Support
- Early Identification: We work closely with families, teachers, and external agencies to identify children with SEND as early as possible.
- Individual Support Plans: Each child with SEND has a personalised learning plan (PLP) outlining their strengths, needs, and the support required.
- Interventions: We provide targeted interventions, including small-group support, 1:1 teaching, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and social-emotional support.
- Inclusive Teaching: Our teaching staff receive ongoing training to ensure lessons are accessible to all learners, with adaptations and resources tailored to individual needs.
Working with Families
We value strong partnerships with parents and carers. Regular meetings, progress updates, and collaborative planning ensure families are fully involved in decisions regarding their child’s education.
