OUR CURRICULUM

Intent

At Spring Lane Primary School, we nurture confident, curious learners through an inspiring and empowering curriculum. We celebrate inclusivity by opening minds and doors, guiding every child on their unique journey of discovery and growth.

Children at Spring Lane will learn to be:

  • Effective Communicators
  • Expert Learners
  • Caring Citizens
  • Healthy Individuals
  • Aspirational Thinkers

Our intent is to prepare children to thrive in a diverse and ever-changing world, ready to embrace opportunities and challenges with confidence, compassion, and ambition.

Implementation

Our curriculum is delivered through Learning Quests – rich, contextual, and enquiry-based units of work that are closely aligned to both the National Curriculum and our curriculum intent.

These Learning Quests are underpinned by three core principles:

Relevance.  Learning is connected to children’s lives, communities, and the wider world. By exploring real-world issues and local heritage, children engage deeply and see themselves as active participants in shaping the future.

Experiences.  Learning is brought to life through immersive, hands-on adventures. From walking the streets of our local history to working alongside real-world experts, children learn by doing—building lasting memories and secure knowledge.

Collaboration.  Our curriculum fosters teamwork, communication, and shared problem-solving. Through collective enquiry and creativity, children grow as learners and as caring citizens ready to lead and contribute.

Impact

Through our Learning Quests, children leave Spring Lane as:

  • Confident speakers, writers, and readers who can communicate effectively in a range of contexts.
  • Resilient, independent learners with the skills to seek out knowledge and think critically.
  • Compassionate citizens who understand and value diversity, and act with kindness and respect.
  • Healthy individuals who make informed choices for their physical and mental wellbeing.
  • Aspirational thinkers with the courage to set goals, take risks, and embrace challenges.

Remote Learning Policy Subject Leaders

Our curriculum embraces the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Need and Disability Aranagement (2014). We ensure this by:

  • Advancing equality of opportunity - between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it.

  • Consulting and involving those affected by inequality, in the decisions your school takes to promote equality and eliminate discrimination (affected people could include parents, pupils, staff and members of the local community).
