Throughout their time at Spring Lane children's learning will be assessed regularly.


Formative Assessment (Assessment for Learning)

Teachers, through their day to day work in the classroom with children, are constantly acting on the information they are being given by children's performance and understanding in lessons to form assessments and plan next steps in learning.


Summative Assessment (formal assessments)

As children move through the school they will also undertake more formal written assessments within 'assessment weeks' 3 times a year. Here the children will complete assessment papers in order to inform the teacher's future planning and information will be shared with parents as to whether your child is working within the age- expected range at parents' evenings. 


Statutory Assessment

Government statutory assessments are also carried out key points throughout the childrens' primary education. Specific guidance regarding these assessments can be found below
