Thank you for being so supportive while we moved into the new building. We are settling in nicely, waiting for some new furniture and the lockers are arriving on Friday. We would then like to invite you in to see the new classrooms.
The old huts are currently being removed and a new AstroTurf will be put in its place. The field will be reseeded and then the work will be complete.
In the reception area we are currently collecting quotes for a new purpose built outside area along with some new equipment for the playgrounds.
From September 2015 we will be opening a new nursery for 2 year olds. If you are interested in a place for your child please see Carol or Helen in Nursery.
We currently have vacancies for parent governors. If you are interested in the school and representing the parents please speak to Mrs Greenfield or myself for more information. The Governors meet six times a year with extra committee meetings usually from 3.30pm – 5.30pm. Childcare is available for meeting times.
After School Clubs
After school clubs are now running until the end of the July term. If you have registered your child for a club they need to attend that club and cannot swap to another activity. All payments should now have been made via parent pay. If your child is not registered for a club they cannot just turn up – if this does happen they will be asked to go to after school club and charges made accordingly.
In school we encourage the children to eat healthily. Please ensure that the children do not have sweets and chocolate bars (mars bars, snickers etc) in their lunch boxes. Water bottles should be filled with water not squash.
In this day and age children are on the internet a lot of the time. At school we spend time talking to the children about keeping safe on the internet and we are lucky that our filters are strong so children are unable to access a lot of sites including all social media sites. However children are accessing them at home. This is your choice as a parent or carer but I thought it might be good to offer you a few questions and thoughts:
· Did you know that it is illegal for children under 13 to be on Facebook, Instagram etc?
· Did you know that if they upload a picture it is then owned by the company?
· Did you know people are taking photographs from sites and using them for different things?
· Do you know how many followers your child has on Instagram or how many friends on Facebook?
· Do you know who is following your child or who their ‘friend’ is?
· Do you know what pictures they have posted?
You might think this is not happening here but it is! We know that one child has over 300 followers on Instagram. We know that children have been registered onto adult sites with photographs. We have been able to get onto Facebook pages and seen some interesting photographs. We really want the children to be safe. If you would like to talk about anything or need help please see us.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
