As we reach the end of another busy term I wanted to share some important dates and information with you. I would like to start by thanking you for all of your hard work at home reading with your child. I am always really impressed by the amount of reading rewards claimed by pupils each week for reading at home. It is vital that all of our children are working hard to become excellent readers.

School Website – www.springlaneprimary.com
Please take time to look at our school website to find out about all of the hard work and success happening in school. There are examples of good work which we regularly update so you can see the progress your children are making and lots of information on upcoming events. There are pictures and reports on our sporting achievements in local competitions and events.
Remember that if you do not have access to the internet we have two Ipads available at the front entrance.
Update on New Build
As the building work is nearly complete we have put some pictures on the school website. Year 5 has interviewed the Site Manager and their video is on the website.
We will soon have a definite date for moving into the new building and this will involve closing the school for two days maximum to allow furniture and resources to be moved safely. As soon as we have dates for this confirmed we will let you know.
Our latest positive HMI Monitoring Visit report is now available on our school website. Please take some time to read it and see how much progress we are making.
There have been a number of cases of head lice reported to us. Please can you ensure you check your child’s hair regularly and take appropriate action if you discover ‘nits’. It is important that long hair is tied back as this can help stop the spread of head lice.
Hopefully the sunny weather will be with us after the holidays. Please ensure your child has a sun hat and apply sun cream before they come to school. You are welcome to send a labelled bottle of sun cream into school for your child to re-apply as required. Please note staff will not apply sun cream for pupils.
After School Clubs
There are now 24 after school clubs running each week and uptake has been excellent. Please remember payment for clubs needs to be made on Parent Pay. If you do need internet access to use this site there are iPads available by the School Office.
Easter Play Scheme
You should have received a letter to inform you of the Easter Play Scheme which is run by staff volunteers. Places have now been allocated and a waiting list is available.
We will be saying farewell to Miss Garner who is leaving us this week to travel to Australia. We thank her for all her hard work at Spring Lane, and we wish her well for the future and look forward to hearing about her adventures down under.
We will be welcoming Miss Beecher and Ms Boon to Spring Lane Primary school. We are lucky that they will be spending the term getting to know groups of children and teaching classes. Mrs Elyard will also be joining the team as our dedicated music teacher.
Please remember school closes for the Easter break on Friday 27th March at 3.15pm. Thank you for all of your support this term. We hope that you have an enjoyable break and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday 14th April 2015.
