As we reach the end of this busy term I wanted to share some important information with you all and also thank you for your hard work at home reading with your child. We are seeing some really good progress in reading and it is vital that we continue to work together to ensure all of our children become excellent readers.
School Website – www.springlaneprimary.com
Please take time to look at our school website to find out about all of the hard work and success happening in school. Examples of good work are regularly updated so you can see the progress your children are making and lots of information on upcoming events.
If you do not have access to the internet we have two Ipads available in reception.
After the holidays we will be introducing spellings homework from Year 2 upwards. Your child will bring home a list of spellings to learn each week; these will be tested at school. We will be holding a session for Parents/Carers on ‘How to Help Your Child with Spellings’ after the holidays.
Please continue to support your child with reading and encourage them to work towards collecting their reading rewards. Remember it is free to join the local Library and they have lots of fantastic reading events that your child could attend in the holidays.
All pupils have a log in for the Mathletics website and in addition Year 5 and Year 6 pupils will be bringing home weekly Maths homework.
If you have any questions about homework or how you can help your child at home please speak to the class teacher.
After School Clubs
There are now 24 after school clubs running each week and uptake has been excellent. Please remember payment for clubs needs to be made on Parent Pay. If you do need internet access to use this site there are tablets available for you to use by the School Office.
When the next letter is sent out to offer club places please ensure it is returned as quickly as possible as there are limited spaces available.
We will be saying farewell to Miss Price and Mrs Cameron on Friday 13th February. We thank them for all their work at Spring Lane and wish them well for the future.
We are excited to be welcoming back Miss Miller who will be teaching year 6 alongside Mr Shanahan who started this week. Both will continue to work closely with Mr Avery and have already been in school getting to know the children and staff.
Miss Hughes, one of our current teachers who has lots of Foundation Stage experience, will be moving into Foundation Stage to work alongside Mrs McMahon.
Mrs Bloomfield will be teaching the Year 2 group.
We are also pleased to welcome Mrs Dickinson, who will be working with our children who are new to English.
We are very excited that we have made a number of additional appointments who will further strengthen our teaching staff from Easter and September.
Non uniform day
The children are keen to have a non-uniform day on Friday 13th February 2015. We thought this would be a nice way to end the term as the children have been working so hard. We would ask for a £1 donation which will be put towards the resources and visitors being planned for our Science week.
Please remember school closes for a week’s holiday on Friday 13th February at 3.15pm. Thank you for all of your support this term. We hope that you have an enjoyable break and we look forward to seeing you on Monday 23rd February 2015.
