This week the children have been getting excited about the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. They have made flags, crowns and decorated pictures of wedding cakes and wedding dresses. On Friday we had a tea party for all the children and parents. We all had a lot of fun.
This term the children have been looking at life cycles and talking about things that happen during the spring season, they enjoyed planting their own sunflower seeds and watching them grow, they were very excited to be able to take them home this week. The children have also done some lovely art work to create some great displays in the nursery. We have been lucky to be given some frogspawn which the children have been fascinated by, they can now tell you that frogs will develop from the frogspawn, they are looking forward to seeing this happen. The children also helped to raise money for sport relief, they were very good at the obstacle course that was set up in the garden. Thank you for all your donations. We hope you all have a lovely Easter holiday and look forward to seeing you all on Monday 16th April.
This week the children have been busy doing lots of pirate themed activities, they made pirate hats, parrots, and walked the plank outside on the Spring Lane Pirate ship! The weather turned very cold and we had some snow which we all had a lot of fun in. On Thursday 1st March it was 'World Book Day', the children came to nursery dressed as their favourite character, when they arrived at nursery they found that it had been taken over by the Pirates!!
This week has been busy with the children learning about the Chinese New Year, they did lots of activities around this theme including making their own coolie hat, a paper dragon, trying out chop sticks to pick up rice and making a big dragon's head ready for our dragon dance. They also enjoyed eating the rice and noodles. As it was the year of the dog we had a visit from Dolly the dog, she had a lovely time saying hello to the children.
Our theme this half term has been winter and polar animals, the children have been extremely busy creating lots of lovely pictures and winter themed crafts which are displayed in the nursery. They have also been exploring ice in different ways, they have painted it, rescued animals from big ice blocks and watched it melting. We turned our role play area into an arctic explorers den where they could hide in an igloo and play with the arctic animals.
Happy New Year to everyone. We are pleased to begin 2018 in our new nursery room. The children have enjoyed their first few days settling in and exploring their new surroundings, they will be busy over the next few weeks doing a variety of activities so that we can make lots of great displays to enhance the learning environment. Our theme this term will be all about winter which will include looking at polar animals, exploring ice and what clothes we need to wear to keep us warm. We will be going outside everyday so please provide your child with a warm coat, hat, gloves, scarf and suitable footwear (please ensure these are named). Thank you.
The children have settled back well into nursery after the half term break. This week we have been talking about Autumn and had a story about 'The Leaf Man' which the children enjoyed. We have done lots of activities with leaves, including going on a leaf hunt, making a leaf man and a leaf crown. Next week we are having the story of 'The Owl Babies'. The children will discover all about nocturnal animals.
This week the children have learnt about the Hindu festival of Diwali, they have made some lovely biscuits and drawn mendhi patterns onto hand pictures, they also watched a video about how Diwali is celebrated within families. They have enjoyed the new nursery room layout and have more space to develop their own ideas and access more resources to help them with this. We Told the story of the 3 little pigs and the children have been able to retell it using the puppets and do creative activities linked to the story. We hope you enjoy your half term holiday and look forward to seeing you on Wednesday 1st November.
A very warm welcome to all our parents and children, new and old. The children have settled well and are making new friends and getting used to the routines of the day. This term the children will be doing lots of activities related to the theme of 'All about me'. Amongst other things they will be finding out about their senses, how we keep clean and healthy, and developing their gross motor skills by climbing, balancing and running outside. Below are a few photos of the children exploring different activities over the past few weeks.
